The county of Cambridgeshire fared extremely well in the latest Halifax rural quality of life survey published recently, with three of its six districts placed in the top 14 out of 140 British districts, based on numerous factors including employment, school exam results, longevity and pollution. Consequently, house hunters searching for new homes in Cambridgeshire's rural areas can look forward to an enviable lifestyle, and there are some excellent new-build developments for sale in the county in these sought-after areas.
The district of South Cambridgeshire came out at Number One in the list for the entire country, based on some excellent scores in categories such as level of wellbeing, exam results, climate and employment rate. Bovis Homes has a number of developments in the region, in and around the new settlement of Cambourne. At Serpentine Walk, prices start at £239,950 for a three-bedroom house. There's a selection of home designs with three to five bedrooms at Hunters Park, ranging in price from £199,950 and £374,950. The company's retirement development in Cambourne, Darwin Manor, is aimed at the over-55 market and offers services tailored to their requirements, including 24-hour emergency care and a guest suite for visitors. A one bedroom apartment starts at £129,950.
In East Cambridgeshire, which came 9th in the national survey, regional housebuilder Hopkins Homes has just a few homes remaining for sale at the final phase at Millers Tye in Soham. Selected plots are now available with five per cent deposit paid, including the three-bedroom 'Houghton' style with a garage for £164,995 and the 'Foster', which has three bedrooms, an en-suite to the master bedroom and a garage with additional parking space at £194,995.
Homebuyers hoping to find a property in the district of Huntingdon, which came 14th in the survey, also have an excellent choice of good value homes at the moment. Linden Homes has just released a new phase of 3 and 4 bedroom houses at Yes! in the historic market town of St Ives, with its convenient links to Peterborough, Cambridge and the town of Huntingdon. Prices start at £199,995.
Redrow Homes' New Heritage Collection properties have proved very popular with housebuyers up and down the country, with their combination of traditional, craftsman-based architecture and thoroughly modern interiors. A selection of home designs with two to four bedrooms is available at Priory Gardens in St Neots, another appealing market town that boasts a 45-minute rail service into London and proximity to the A1. Prices range from £160,950 to £299,950, with a marketing suite open daily from 10am to 5.30pm and two show homes to view.
