The Edinburgh new-build housing market is set to see a growth spurt as CALA Homes has been granted planning approval for its ambitious city centre development at Trinity Park. Situated in the former Trinity Park House site, the new development will comprise a total of 81 new properties across six acres in the north of Edinburgh city centre. The location and the impressive walled gardens on site have been carefully considered in the plans and CALA Homes has come up with an attractive design created specifically for the area, taking inspiration from the city's rich architectural heritage.
Gillian Tait, development manager for CALA Homes, explains: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a residential development which applies a modern take on the city's classic Georgian architecture. We have taken the best of space and scope of traditional building design, with classic facades and high-proportioned doors and ceilings, and combined it with all the advantages of contemporary living - such as modern kitchens, en-suite bathrooms and open-plan living space. The development layout represents the nature of the walled garden and enhances the existing mature landscape."
That landscape is now set to sit alongside a collection of semi-detached, terraced and mews houses as well as a selection of apartments, which will all be enclosed within the tree-lined grounds. Many of these new homes in Scotland will be aimed at families, something that CALA champions, yet which can often be relatively unusual in a development so close to the city centre.
Kevin Whitaker, managing director of CALA Homes (East), comments: "CALA's proposals reflect the need for high-quality family homes in the area, with the new-build design incorporating garages, en-suites and large family areas within a traditional exterior layout. CALA has a strong track record in developing high-quality family homes in the Trinity area, with recent developments in East Fettes selling well and Pavilion in Inverleith having sold out in spring 2010. Opportunities like Trinity Park House do not come along too often in Edinburgh, and it is further proof that the city can continue to be an attractive and desirable location."
Work is expected to begin on the new development this summer, with the first of the new homes becoming available in Spring 2012. Prices at Trinity Park will range from £300,000 to £950,000.
There are still a number of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties available at the Hutton Apartments phase of CALA Homes' East Fettes development, priced from £205,000 to £695,000, and just one two-bedroom home at the Maxwell Apartments phase remaining, priced £325,000.
