with leading UK housebuilder Barratt Homes donating funds to help the new neighbours get together and commemorate the happy event at street parties on Friday 29th April. Hundreds of residents at developments of new homes in Essex, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire celebrated last week's royal wedding in style.
Young and old alike were able to come together to raise a toast to the newlyweds at parties at Bocking Mill near Braintree, Nightingale Woods in Wendover, and Templars Gate in Baldock. It was an excellent opportunity for neighbours to get to know one another and enjoy the one-off bank holiday and a second four-day weekend in succession.
"We like to encourage residents at our developments to get to know each other and often hold 'meet your neighbour' events," says Chris Scarborough, Sales Director for Barratt North London. "The Royal Wedding was a good opportunity to encourage the community spirit and support our residents further as they forge new relationships."
Rebecca Littler, Sales Director for Barratt Eastern Counties, adds: "It was great to hear the Bocking Mill party was such a success and we are glad all those who attended enjoyed the celebration."
Bocking Mill has a lovely riverside, village location with easy access to both the Essex countryside and the amenities of thriving Braintree. Residents enjoyed live music, a bouncy castle and, of course, plenty to eat and drink at their party. The range of homes available there are ideal for those with young and growing families, with three- and four-bedroom houses starting at £224,995.
Nightingale Woods is a development of new apartments and new houses in Buckinghamshire priced from £177,000, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The party there had a professional caterer in charge of the barbecue, courtesy of Barratt, with a variety of refreshments and a charity tombola raising funds for the Chilterns Multiple Sclerosis Centre, located nearby.
Matthew Frost, one of the Nightingale Woods residents to help organise the do, says: "It's not every day you get to host a street party so we decided to organise something special to celebrate Will and Kate's wedding. It was a great community event and nice to see so many local people getting involved. We are extremely grateful to Barratt Homes for providing us with such a lovely spread - ensuring it really was a day to remember."
Barratt North London contributed £200 to the kitty at Templars Gate in Baldock, providing an excellent start to an event enjoyed by many of the neighbours at the development. In fact, just one property remains unsold at the development, a three-bedroom townhouse priced £299,995, which means that there's a last chance for one more family to join a lively community within easy commuting distance of London and a host of Hertfordshire towns.
